Responsible for assisting the Learning Support Lead teacher with implementation of high school learning support programs and classes, which include Study Hall Lab, LS Study Skill and In-class support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support targeted courses as designated by the Learning Support Lead Teachers in the following areas: Supporting students executive functioning within the classroom, not limited to only learning support students. Collaborate with content teachers to be more effective and efficient while in class. Create class norms and structures to allow students and teachers to understand roles in the classroom. Provide differentiated pathways for students who may have diverse learning needs. This may include materials, assessments, and small group or individual instruction. Provide feedback to students and teachers on what is working and what can be done to improve access Maintain data for departmental meetings to evaluate co-teaching practices. What is going well, what can be improved and student data to support. Utilize Planning Periods to: Meet with collaborating teachers Organize student data Prepare differentiated materials as needed Provide coverage when needed The duties and responsibilities of the learning assistant are defined in collaboration with the subject teacher/s as well as by taking independent initiative.
They include: Planning and implementing instruction for small groups and providing interventions as needed.
Preparation and organization of instructional materials needed for daily instruction.
Organization of classroom materials, resources, and equipment as well as maintaining order.
Participating with students during all learning activities, including whole class lessons, meetings, and discussions.
Active supervision and behavior management according to school expectations in the classroom, during transitions, recesses, and meal times.
Active support of and participation in instruction, activities, discussions, and advisory when required.
Maintaining student records in collaboration with teacher/s (classwork, homework, grading, etc.)
Other tasks as assigned by the teacher and administrator that are in accordance with school goals or objectives Leading the class if the content teacher is absent.
Attending faculty meetings, team meetings and SST meetings (according to grade level agreements).
In classrooms or duty post ready to work by 7:15.
